Hey Mr. DJ is owned and operated by award-winning Pro DJ-MC Rich Amooi. Rich has been providing outstanding DJ Entertainment in Silicon Valley and the entire Bay Area for over 20 years. He’s definitely not your average entertainer and was voted “Best DJ in Silicon Valley” two years in a row by readers of the San Jose Mercury News.
Rich is well-known as a highly-successful MC in the Bay Area Wedding Industry. Outside of that arena, he’s also been the MC for Maroon 5, The Temptations, Hall & Oates, Madonna, Journey, and countless other world-class artists when they come to the Bay Area for a concert. You can even hear him on San Jose radio station Mix 106.5. Imagine what he can do for you at your special event!
Rich is always continuing to grow and improve his craft. He’s an active member of the American Disc Jockey Association and served on the board as Vice President of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the National Association Of Catering and Events.
Although Rich has entertained at countless Weddings, he is also an excellent choice for birthday parties, anniversaries, company parties, and other special celebrations and social events!
A Few Words From Rich:
“Music has always had a special place in my heart. As a child, I would listen to the radio 24 hours a day. I eventually started winning those contests you hear on the radio…concert and movie tickets, trips, album collections, dinners, you name it. I won over 125 contests and was constantly going to the radio stations to pick up the prizes. I began to hangout and watch the DJ’s on the air and was really fascinated with them. “What a cool job!” I would always say.
My first experience on the microphone was doing the homeroom announcements in my junior year of High School. I was so nervous, I butchered the Pledge of Allegiance on the very first day. But that didn’t deter me; it only motivated me to practice and improve my skills. Since then, I’ve worked “On The Air” for some of the top radio stations in the Bay Area and have had great success with my company, Hey Mr. DJ.
On an even more personal note, I’m happily married and live in the Willow Glen area of San Jose with my incredible wife, Silvi, and our very hairy dog. We love to travel, walk on Los Gatos Creek Trail, dance, ride our bikes, and watch romantic comedies. We met at a Starbucks.“
